The Healthy Women, Healthy Families (HWHF) initiative uses a multi-pronged approach to improve maternal and infant health and reduce racial disparities in birth outcomes. The initiative provides outreach, education and case management services to high-risk families and women of childbearing age in South Jersey. For the region’s two urban centers, HWHF supports additional services that focus on reducing black infant mortality. Women of color in Camden City and Atlantic City are encouraged to access free doulas services and breastfeeding support provided by the initiative.
Working with community partners throughout the region, the Cooperative expands the reach of the HWHF initiative. Partner agencies offer county-level activities that focus on providing high-risk families and women of childbearing age access to resource information and referrals to community services that promote child and family wellness. Below is a list of partner agencies and their services.
