RESPONDING WITH INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR THE TREATMENT OF PERINATAL MOOD AND SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS: BEYOND THE WALLS
This skills building workshop is intended for professional practitioners who provide care and treatment to childbearing women and their families. Speakers will present on topics related to Perinatal Mood and Substance Use Disorders. This program is at the intermediate level and participants are expected to have a basic knowledge of working with women with Perinatal Mood and Substance Use Disorders including definitions, signs and symptoms and risk factors.

Target Audience: Addiction Specialists, Case Managers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Nurses and Social Workers
Discuss the ethical considerations and effective treatment solutions in delivering care outside the traditional brick and mortar office walls for Perinatal Mood and Substance Use Disorders; describe currents trends in implementing web-based and telehealth services; identify the important role of ethics in cyber treatment; discuss the legislation in the state of NJ related to telehealth and web-therapy; discuss evidence-based engagement and screening tools for perinatal substance use disorders; recognize the importance of appropriate assessment for obstetric and neonatal risk; review available medical treatment options for opioid and other substance use disorders in pregnancy; describe the evidenced-based MomMoodBooster™ program; discuss how the MomMoodBooster™ program is being used with postpartum depressed women veterans; define the role of the behavioral health therapist in the Primary Care or OB/GYN office; recognize the connection between adverse childhood experiences, maternal health and pregnancy outcomes; and explain the benefits of integrated behavioral health and maternal health and pregnancy outcomes.
Allan Tepper, JD, PsyD is an Attorney at Law and a licensed Psychologist. He is in private practice as a forensic psychologist and attorney, specializing in the representation of mental health professionals in licensing board and disciplinary proceedings, criminal law and civil matters.
Kaitlan Baston, MD, MSc is a Family Physician and Addiction Medicine Specialist. She is the Medical Director of the Addiction Medicine Program within the Urban Health Institute at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey
Michael W. O'Hara, PhD is a licensed Clinical Psychologist. He is a Professor and Director of Clinical Training at the University of Iowa. Dr O’Hara has done extensive research in areas related to postpartum depression and an internationally-recognized lecturer and expert in postpartum depression.
Elana Dobrowolski, MSW, LCSW, LCADC is a licensed Clinical Social Worker and Addictions Specialist. She is the Program Director and Clinician in Meridian Primecare. She is the facilitator of the Postpartum Support group at Meridian Counseling Services, LLC in Cherry Hill and Sewell, New Jersey.
Kathryn Pillion, MSW, LCSW is a licensed Clinical Social Worker. She is an experienced clinician in perinatal mood and substance use disorders and is a therapist in Meridian Primecare, the integrated behavioral health program at Meridian Counseling Services, LLC in Cherry Hill and Sewell, New Jersey.
