Wipe Out Lead
What is Wipe out Lead New Jersey?
Wipe out Lead NJ (WOLNJ) is a statewide initiative to help expectant parents and families with young children in New Jersey identify lead hazards in the home.
The program provides free home testing kits to screen for dangerous levels of lead paint dust, the most common source of childhood lead poisoning.
The user-friendly kit contains everything needed to test a home, including a pre-addressed, postage paid envelope to send samples to the lab. Results are available in a few weeks. All who return samples receive a $5 grocery store voucher.

WOLNJ staff provide education for families to make the home safer, and offer appropriate referrals to test children, obtain information on certified inspectors and contractors, and other agencies.
Join the Provider Team
Prenatal and pediatric providers are invited to join Wipe Out Lead NJ and help end the tragedy of childhood lead poisoning. As distributors of the Wipe Out Lead NJ testing kit, participating providers offer their patients immediate access to a valuable home-safety tool.
Upon request, provider partners are informed when homes test positive for elevated lead paint dust. Experienced staff work closely with office personnel to customize a distribution process that integrates smoothly into existing procedures. All materials are provided free of charge and delivered directly to the office.
Participation options:
- Distribute lead test kits to your families
- Distribute testing kit postcards to interested families
- Identify other partners to help distribute test kits
