Healthy Families Atlantic City
Healthy Families Atlantic City is part of Healthy Families America, a national program model designed to help expectant and new parents get their children off to a healthy start.
Families participate voluntarily in the program and receive home visiting and referrals from trained staff. The Healthy Families program has three goals:
- To promote positive parenting
- To enhance child health and development
- To prevent child abuse and neglect.
The program uses a home visitation model, where trained professionals educate parents, (in their own home) about such important issues as nutrition, child development, age appropriate discipline and health care. Home visits also enable staff to observe family relationships and monitor the child's development
Health care and social service professionals with patients/clients who meet eligibility requirements are encouraged to contact the program about the referral process.
