Group Support

Throughout South Jersey, the Postpartum Wellness Initiative oversees group support and education for women who are at risk of developing perinatal mood disorders. New moms are offered generic psycho-education whereas the Initiative also provides a more traditional support group for women experiencing the symptoms of perinatal mood disorders. Both groups are provided free of charge. These groups meet either weekly or bi-weekly, and are led by professional facilitators who are skilled in working with women at risk for perinatal mood disorders. (The traditional support group model is facilitated by clinicians who hold a Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling.)

New support groups are forming all the time. For the most current information, contact Postpartum Wellness Initiative at 856.675.5295 or email PWI@snjpc.org . For details about a particular group, contact them directly.

WarmLine

The Postpartum Wellness WarmLine (856.675.5295 ) is a free call-back service offering one-on-one information about PPD. The WarmLine is staffed by a counselor and specialist who can refer women to support groups and answer PPD questions. WarmLine calls are returned weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Please remember, the WarmLine is not an emergency service. For emergency calls, dial 911 or the nearest hospital.

Speak Up When You're Down

Although it was not developed by the Cooperative, SNJPC works closely with the New Jersey-sponsored statewide campaign, Speak Up When You're Down . This initiative is designed to give families the facts about PPD. By encouraging women to discuss their feelings with a partner, friend, and especially their healthcare provider, they are likelier to get help if it is needed.
