Early Intervention Service Coordination for Camden County

About the Program

Early Intervention (EI) of Camden County helps families understand and navigate EI services provided by New Jersey for children with developmental delays or disabilities.

Service Coordination is an important component of the Early Intervention system. Service Coordinators serve as family’s personal guide. Service Coordinators help parents negotiate the system, understand their rights, arrange for in home evaluations, obtain services, and develop an individual family service plans.

At regular intervals, Service Coordinators also meet with each family to review their service plan to ensure that the programs continue to be appropriate for the child’s developmental needs and the family’s stated goals.

SNJPC provides Service Coordination assistance for eligible Camden County families with children from birth to age 3.

Program Benefits

Early Intervention is a system of supports and services provided to children birth to three years of age who have developmental delays and/or some specific medically diagnosed physical or mental condition that has a high probability of resulting in a developmental delay. The goal of EI is to help families meet the developmental and health-related needs of their child.

Families of children found eligible, under Part C of the Federal Law-Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), are entitled to receive at no cost:

  • Evaluation and Assessment
  • Procedural Safeguards
  • Service Coordination
  • Writing of an Individual Family Service Plan

The EI System will provide an evaluation at no cost to identify any specific delay(s) your child may be experiencing. For a checklist of developmental milestones, click here. If a child is eligible, the EI System will help identify supports and resources to help meet that child's developmental and health related needs.

The EI System may also offer other free supports and services. These may include special instruction, speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, family support groups and/ or family training to help the child to develop to his/her greatest potential.
