Atlantic County Healthy Families-TIP
About the program
Atlantic County Healthy Families–TIP (HF–TIP) is a program that helps new and expectant parents get their families off to a healthy start.
The goals of the program are:
- to promote positive parenting.
- to enhance child growth and development.
- to prevent child abuse and neglect.
- to provide education on childhood diet, nutrition, and medical care.
- to help parents learn to balance working and raising a family.
Healthy Families-TIP combines elements from the national Healthy Families America model and those from TIP (the NJ Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Initiative for Parents). In July 2008, the two programs were combined to provide a network of support that helps good parents become great parents.
Participation in the program is voluntary. Program participants receive in-home visits from trained Family Support Workers, and attend community sessions at their local One Stop Career Center.
The program provides education on everything from nutrition, child development, discipline, and health care to resume writing and job search skills.
