About the Program

The Perinatal Addictions Prevention Project provides professional education, professional training, and consumer education about the effects of alcohol and drug use during pregnancy. Substance use during pregnancy multiplies the chances of low birth weight, developmental problems, and miscarriage. To ensure pregnant women receive appropriate assistance, the program also helps health professionals implement a prenatal screening tool for the early identification and treatment of high-risk behaviors.
