Healthy Start Mission

Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies (HMHB) Coalition of Camden City is the largest program of the Southern New Jersey Perinatal Cooperative (SNJPC). As one the nation's Healthy Start grantees, HMHB Coalition of Camden is working diligently to reduce the city's infant mortality rate through the use of four models developed by the Federal Healthy Start Initiative. The four models in Camden focus on:

Adolescent Services
Risk Reduction/Substance Abuse Treatment
Outreach
Consortium (or Coalition) Building

The following organizations are Healthy-Start funded partners working with the HMHB Coalition of Camden to achieve its goal. Camden Area Health Education Center; Camden City Board of Education; Camden Urban Coordinating Council; Family Counseling; Health Visions; Hispanic Family Center; Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, Osborn Family Health Center; Sikora Center; Planned Parenthood of Southern New Jersey; West Jersey Health Systems/ALCOVE; and Woodland Avenue Presbyterian Church.

HMHB Coalition of Camden also works with numerous organizations that are not funded by Healthy Start and the prenatal clinics throughout the city. Each organization - funded or not - is a vital part of an extensive network where the common concern is improving the quality of life for pregnant women and children who live and work in the city of Camden.
