HMHB Working Committees & Meeting Schedules

The Coalition
The Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies (HMHB) Coalition of Camden City is a diverse group open to anyone interested in its mission to decrease the number of infants who die in the city by improving health care and other factors that relate to infant deaths. The full Coalition meets bi-monthly for standing committee updates and a program of an educational nature.
   In addition, the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Camden Executive Committee is made up of members who are appointed according to the Coalition's Rules of Procedures. The Executive Committee governs the activities of the Coalition and the standing or working committees.
   
   The following is a description of each HMHB Coalition of Camden standing committee that oversees the various models and tasks


Adolescent Services Committee
Oversee HMHB Coalition of Camden teen programs within the Healthy Start Adolescent Model.
Work to prevent births to teens and collaborate with other agencies with the same interest.
Assure that all pregnant and parenting teens receive good health care, education and social services.
Address gaps in service and develop programs based on needs.

Community Network Committee
Oversee the HMHB Coalition of Camden Outreach Program and its expansion through Healthy Start funds.
Act as a link between the community and the health care system.
Assess and address barriers to care.
Sponsor outreach events.
Help with the evaluation process for the HMHB Outreach Program work plan, goals and objectives.

Substance Abuse/Risk Reduction Committee
Oversee the HMHB Coalition of Camden Risk Reduction Model (Substance Abuse programs funded by Healthy Start) and other related services of the Coalition.
Review data on the impact of substance abuse on maternal and child health.
Assess and address gaps in services and barriers to care for pregnant and parenting substance abusing women.
Sponsor in-service education programs for health care providers related to pregnant and parenting substance abusing women.

Consortia Building / Navigators
A peer consumer group designed to help recruit and train consumer members of the Coalition.
Facilitate communication between consumers and health care providers.

Evaluation Committee
Assess needs.
Evaluate and report on the impact of Healthy Start-funded programs and other services of the Coalition.
Review the findings of the Camden Fetal Infant Mortality Review Team (FIMR).
Monitor the progress of Coalition programs.
Review quarterly statistics.
Report to the Executive Committee quarterly.
Review and analyze statistics to assess maternal and child health needs.

Communications Committee
Increase awareness of the issues and programs (including Healthy Start) of HMHB Coalition of Camden for the various stakeholders, such as consumers, providers and politicians.
Promote internal communication.
Keep informed of relevant issues, public policies and laws, and keep Coalition abreast of relevant developments.
Oversee the Coalition's Speakers Bureau, which includes recruitment and training of speakers.

Nominating Committee
Prepare on a yearly basis a slate of candidates for election to the HMHB Coalition of Camden Executive Committee. The Executive Committee slate includes the officers and members-at-large.
Assess the leadership needs of the Coalition.

Rules of Procedure Committee
Update and propose changes to the Coalition's Rules of Procedure as appropriate.
Assist the HMHB Coalition of Camden Executive Committee in developing committee guidelines, position descriptions and policies that enhance the operation of the Coalition.
Assure that Rules of Procedure, policies and guidelines are interpreted and implemented appropriately.
Review Rules of Procedure annually and recommend appropriate revisions with input from the Executive Committee and the Coalition.
