Professional Education Programs at SNJPC

Neonatal Resuscitation Training Course (NRTC)
A training program coordinated by Cooperative staff for medical, nursing and respiratory therapy staff of member hospitals on how to care for the immediate oxygenation needs of a newborn. NRTC was developed by the American Heart Association and approved by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Contact: Suzanne Herron

Nursing Child Assessment Satellite Training (NCAST)
This program provides nursing professionals with an objective framework to evaluate parent-child interactions and the home environment of infants and pre-school children. Assessment scales are used to provide valuable information for early case finding and intervention in the areas of cognitive development and fostering of emotional and social growth. Perinatal Continuing Education Program (PCEP)
Also known as the Kattwinkle Program, this is a comprehensive training program on caring for newborns administered by the Cooperative for medical and nursing staff of member hospitals. Contact: Sylvia Speller

Professional Education
Educating maternal and child health professionals is the cornerstone of the Cooperative's mission. The agency produces quality programming at a reasonable cost and is a leader in the region for presenting innovative and timely programs. All Cooperative offerings include appropriate Continuing Education Units (CEU) for maternal and child health care providers and social workers. Professional Networks
The Cooperative supports a variety of maternal and child health professional groups to enhance networking opportunities and resource sharing and offer another educational forum.

Nurse Managers Task Force
Members include nurse managers, clinical specialists and nurse educators of member hospitals who meet periodically to discuss commonly shared management issues and concerns. If you are interested in participating, please add your name to the mailing list.

Perinatal Social Work Network
An interdisciplinary coalition of social work professionals concerned with MCH issues. Regular meetings include educational information and a networking forum. If you are interested in participating, please add your name to the mailing list.

Prenatal Care Network
A coalition of various prenatal care givers. Members include MCH nurse managers, staff nurses, case managers, social workers and nutritionists who meet to share resources and information and to discuss issues of common concern. If you are interested in participating, please add your name to the mailing list.

Regional Addictions Network
An interdisciplinary coalition of professionals concerned with perinatal addictions. Quarterly meetings include educational information and a networking forum. If you are interested in participating, please add your name to the mailing list.

Video and Computerized Assisted Learning Lending Library
The Cooperative maintains a library of professional education videotapes and Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) programs that are available for free rental or loan to Cooperative general members. Contact: Sylvia Speller
