Since 1981, the Cooperative has recorded trends in birth weight, mortality and transport for its service region (link to map). These trends are reported annually in the agencyfs Regional Collaborative Database, also known as eAchievementf.

The Achievement Database follows ongoing concerns and identifies emerging problems. It is also used to evaluate our efforts to develop and maintain a regional perinatal system that assures high risk mothers and infants receive optimal care. This regionalization of perinatal services has several key objectives:

  • Accessible, quality care for pregnant women and newborns
  • Appropriate use of perinatal facilities and personnel
  • Assurance of reasonable cost effectiveness

Disclaimer

Achievement utilizes data from the NJ Electronic Birth Certificate system, one of the most comprehensive perinatal data systems in the country. The EBC is comprised of birth record information and perinatal data for each birth occurring in NJ birthing facilities. SNJPC member hospitals maintain their own individual EBC databases and voluntarily share that data with SNJPC for regional analysis. EBC data in Achievement represents births in SNJPC member hospitals. This is hospital based data and is not to be considered population based. These data are preliminary and are not considered official by the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services and may not be represented as such. The accuracy of the data contained in this report is dependent upon the completeness and reliability of information recorded by each EBC birth facility.
