Incarceration, Underlying Trauma and Perinatal Stress
To deliver optimal care to the unique population
of formerly incarcerated women, providers must
understand that many former inmates present
with
underlying trauma. Many have suffered mental,
physical, and sexual abuse in addition to the
stresses
of incarceration. Awareness of these underlying
conditions is important for providers, especially
when
treating pregnant women and mothers who are
former
inmates. This workshop focuses on the circumstances
of incarcerated women, including the mental
health
and medical care services available to them
in jail as
well as the lingering effects of their incarceration
on
rehabilitative release efforts.

Registration
Registration deadline is March 18, 2011. Registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Program Fee
The $35 fee includes continental breakfast, lunch,
educational hours, parking voucher, and program
materials.
Upon request, SNJPC will refund registration fees if
notified of a cancellation no later than five
days prior
to the program date. A 50% refund will be
given for cancellations within four days to
24 hours before the program date.
